Star Denies Anti-Vax Stance After Voicing Contentious Coronavirus Film
Liam Neeson has provided his vocal talents to a new documentary that challenges the legitimacy of vaccinations and lauds one-time health official Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Film's Contentious Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a bestselling book written by a controversial scientist, who became famous during the health crisis for assertions that the virus was linked to a problematic version of the influenza shot.
The book's co-author, the executive producer, has also written books with far-right media personality Alex Jones. Heckenlively recently posted praising Neeson's participation in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Statement
The team of the actor have released a response strongly denying implications that he holds anti-vaccine views.
"Many recognize that misconduct may occur within the medical sector, but that must not be equated to rejection of vaccines," the comment explains. "Neeson never has been, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His long work with the global charity reinforces his long-held support for public-health initiatives."
The response noted that the actor did not shape the film's messaging and that questions about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.
Central Assertions Within the Film
As presented, the script spoken by Neeson includes several strong statements:
- It states that pro-vaccine voices have demanded "complete compliance" to government bodies.
- It argues that "science has become dangerously politicised."
- RFK Jr is featured claiming, "The major issue with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
- The narration further attacks pandemic restrictions, arguing they caused psychological harm that resulted in thousands of lives.
- On the topic of the immunizations, it mentions a report that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Historical Context and Recent Disputes
It also references a historical film about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a correction by the corporation for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, the political figure directed the national health agency to change its longstanding position that there is no connection between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This supposed link is also referenced in the documentary, contrary to a new report from the global health body stating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Record of Endorsement
Contrasting the film's message, Neeson has in the past expressed clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he referred to vaccines as "an incredible achievement," stating that "The conversation about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in human history."
The film ends with Neeson's voice proclaiming, "This is not the end of our narrative. It is the dawn of a new chapter."
