On Friday midday, the temperature climbed to 91°F (33°C) in central LA, per data from meteorologists. This breaks the old record for February 27th, which was 31 degrees Celsius (88 Fahrenheit) and was established in 2025.

Authorities stated that Friday's weather posed an "higher threat for heat illness" for those at risk. Their advice included:
