Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

It said missile fragments fell on a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
