The acclaimed British actress Helen Mirren, already recipient of an Academy Award, several BAFTA honors, three Golden Globes, five Emmy Awards, plus a Tony, is poised to earn an additional esteemed prize to her collection: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe lifetime honor.

Award Event

The actress, octogenarian, who was given a damehood back in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow back in 2014, will accept this honor during a presentation on 8 January, just prior to the Golden Globes main event take place, during an event billed by the organization as the “Golden Eve”.

Additionally featuring the awarding of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for TV work, the honoree for which remains unannounced. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

It is a profound honour to bestow upon her this lifetime achievement honor.”

Helen Mirren gained prominence in the 1970s with key roles on stage at London’s West End and through the Royal Shakespeare Company and in films like O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her lead performance in the crime series Prime Suspect increased her popularity significantly. Additional notable movies comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park and Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her portrayal as Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a part she returned to during 2013 for The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan concerning the sessions between the queen and the PM the former PM, a performance for which she received a Tony Award in 2015.
